COLCHESTER United will kick off the new Sky Bet League Two season with a trip to play Northampton Town.

But how do the bookmakers view the U's chances of success, in the 2022-23 campaign?

Wayne Brown will be looking to get off to a good start after being appointed as Colchester boss on a permanent basis, last month.

The U's are looking to bring in new signings this summer to boost their squad ahead of the forthcoming season, which gets underway on July 30.

And despite the loss of midfielder Brendan Wiredu to League One side Fleetwood Town earlier this week, the club are hoping to flourish in the top half of the table and avoid a third successive relegation battle, this time around.

The U's are 8/1 to win promotion to League One this season, according to bookmakers Betway.

Colchester are one of seven clubs with those odds to go up.

Salford City, financially backed by the Class of '92, are the 6/4 favourites to reach League One for the first time in their history.

And Stockport County, promoted as National League champions last season, are fancied at 7/4 to achieve back-to-back promotions.
