THOUSANDS of pounds were raised for charity as a recruitment agency part took part in an annual golf day.

Prime Appointments, a recruitment agency in Witham, raised more than £26,000 in just 12 hours for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The company held its annual golf day earlier this month at the Colchester Golf Club and broke its own record by raising the biggest amount of money it had ever raised in a single event.

A spokesman said: “The highlight of the day was, without a doubt, the auction, where attendees all fought to outbid each other for prizes donated by our valued clients and friends.

“Prizes included a skiing trip to Chamonix, an overnight stay and golf for four at the Belfry, 27 holes and lunch for three at Muirfield which is the world’s oldest golf cub, and many more generous contributions.”

The team managed to raise £26,165 for Alzheimer’s Society, which is Prime’s partnered charity, making a combined total so far of £77,000 raised in just three and a half years.

The spokesman added: “Having pledged to raise £100,000 by 2028 we are now 77 per cent there.

“This is the biggest amount of money we have raised to date in a single event and are overwhelmed by the support of the community, friends, and family.

The team has been battling to raise awareness and fight back against Alzheimer’s, which their co-founder Margaret Locke was diagnosed with at just 50.

“Margaret’s husband David Locke was in attendance and touched to witness the outpouring of funds in aid of supporting Alzheimer’s Society’s work.

“All funds raised by the Prime team are being circulated within the community to ensure those around Witham and beyond receive the money and support.”
