A SERVING soldier got behind the wheel of a car while more than double the legal drink drive limit.
Stuart Hay, 23, drove a Volkswagen Golf in Circular Road South, Colchester, on May 16.
The soldier, who serves with 2 Para at Merville Barracks, was found to have 86mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Appearing at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on May 31, Hay was fined £391, ordered to pay costs of £105 and banned from driving for 18 months.
