A NEWLY-APPOINTED police officer has urged other people to look at joining the force as they search for new recruits.
Essex Police has opened up applications to be part of their next cohort in October.
People are able to apply this month.
Those successful applicants will spend the winter learning the basics from trainers at Essex Police College before taking their first steps on the beat in 2023.
PC Alexandra Lynch, serving on Colchester’s Local Policing team, has given some advice to anyone considering the role.
She said: “You will doubt yourself. Don’t. There are ups and downs to everything in the journey here.
"Don’t let things knock you down and make yourself get back up if you do. It’s just about believing in yourself.
"It’s fine to have a wobble. We all learn at different speeds. Don’t compare yourself to other people.
"Be open with your tutors, as they will always support you and won’t leave you behind.
“You will be so proud of yourself at the end of it.”
A spokesman added: “At Essex Police, we value difference, and know that we’re strongest when we all work together.
“Our officers have different life experiences, different skills and represent communities from across our county.
“We’re here for you and your loved ones in times of emergency, and we’re always looking for new people to join us.”
