DRIVERS were slapped with speeding tickets after eagle-eyed police officers carried out checks in problematic areas of Colchester during the school run.

The Community Policing Team was deployed to the garrison area of the town on Thursday afternoon as part of Project Servator.

Officers carried out speed checks in four locations, resulting in eight tickets being issued to speeding motorists, with one clocked doing 47mph in a 30mph zone.

A spokesman for Essex Police Colchester said “This was just after school finishing with a number of school children using the roads to cross to get home.”
