A young band is “super excited” after being given the chance to perform at one of the biggest festival events in the world.
Anorak Patch, a four-piece musical outfit from Colchester, will take to the stages of the Reading and Leeds Festival over the August bank holiday weekend.
The group of school friends will join a line-up featuring huge names such as Arctic Monkeys, Rage Against The Machine, Halsey, Dave, and Megan Thee Stallion.
In a statement published on social media, the band said: “[We are] super excited to announce we will be playing Reading and Leeds this summer.”
Since forming in 2019, keyboardist Effie Lawrence, drummer Luca Ryland and her guitarist brother Oscar, and bass player Eleanor Helliwell have been on an upwards trajectory.
Their debut single Beans was picked up by BBC 6Music and the group’s subsequent releases, including Irate and Blue Jeans, have been championed by Radio 1 and Spotify.
Harnessing a “visceral” approach to punk rock, they also headlined the city’s most revered live music venue, Colchester Arts Centre, playing to a packed room of hundreds of fans.
