DOZENS of objections have been submitted to plans to convert a house into a care home for young people in Tiptree.

Pure Love Care Homes Limited has applied for a change of use for the property in Wilkin Drive.

Initial plans submitted in March this year were withdrawn and new plans put to Colchester Council.

Under the plans up to five children would be housed at the address at one time.

The children would be aged between six and 14 years.

A planning application submitted by the applicants said: “The children given a home here will be from the UK care system, have suffered some form of trauma and have no parents or have been taken into care as their parents are deemed unfit to look after them.

“All types of children are welcome, we do not discriminate in any way or form. However, we specialise in children with learning difficulties, mild mental health such as ADHD, Dyslexia and Autism.

“The children are here to live. They will become a part of the Tiptree community and offer great potential in many aspects.”

But the plans have received more than 70 objections.

Residents and Tiptree Parish Council have raised concerns over “insufficient parking”.

The parish council objection said: “Although additional information has been received regarding parking for staff, this is ambiguous and the potential number of visitors has not been taken into consideration.”

One objection said: “This is not a suitable location as it is a residential area and will certainly devalue the house prices.”

Another said: “The children to be housed will have learning difficulties, mental health issues and substance abuse issues.

“To be housed in a residential estate with many nursery and school age children around is really very concerning.

“We have school age children and would feel extremely worried/uncomfortable/upset that they would be in the vicinity of this house whilst walking to school or visiting the park.”

Colchester Council will have the final say on the plans.
