AN LQBTQ+ show is set to take to the stage at the Mercury Theatre.

Speaking Out and Fitting In, will be performed at the Mercury Theatre on Thursday, June 30 at 7.30PM.

Alice d’Lumiere, the show’s performer, is a regular contributor to the Colchester performing art scene.

Speaking Out and Fitting In is a recital in prose, with flashes of cabaret, cutting comedy and aerial burlesque.

Alice will playfully explore the position of an individual striving to fit into another gender, whilst yearning to establish a unique personal voice for themselves.

Alice has a long-standing creative partnership with Colchester Arts Centre and recently the Mercury Theatre.

The show was commissioned by Colchester Arts Centre and has been supported using public funding by the National Lottery.

A beneficiary of the Mercury Theatre’s Creatives Programme, the show marks Alice's fifth Arts Council England supported project.

Alice has also regularly performed and compered for Colchester Pride, since its inception in 2017.

In 2018, Alice joined the Colchester Pride committee, helping plan the 2019 event. She remained with Colchester pride, becoming its lead event coordinator for 2021.

Her next performance challenge, The Trans Lady Sings, will focus on Alice’s journey to become an opera singer, with no previous music experience.
