CONSTRUCTING a wet dock to rival Ipswich’s picturesque waterfront could help to boost business in Colchester, a councillor has suggested.

Conservative Group leader Darius Laws told Colchester Council Ipswich’s dock is a “great asset” to the town, adding “people don’t want to sit next to mud”.

Mr Laws said the wet dock has “made a huge impact” in Ipswich and argued “it’s the reason Brewdog are moving there soon and not to the Hythe in Colchester”.

He added: “I do wonder if we need to keep on our agenda the concept of looking at a wet dock in the future.”
