ESSEX Police’s roads team patrol routes big and small across the county in a bid to tackle crime and keep residents moving.
As people take to the roads in their droves every day, a wide variety of issues come up which need dealing with.
Here’s a look at some of the more peculiar incidents police officers dealt with this week on our roads.
POLICE officers have arrested a "high harm offender" who was wanted by the Met Police.
Officers stopped a car near Cuckoo Farm Way, Colchester, and found the driver to be wanted for domestic assault and damage.
The alleged crimes had seen the Met Police launch a search for the man who was wanted in relation to the incidents in Hornchurch.
The police said the man was also found to have no insurance or driving licence.
He was arrested and the vehicle seized, Essex Police stated.
BEMUSED police officers who warned a drunk man not to get behind the wheel caught him after stopping for a coffee at the same services.
Officers halted a van in Colchester on Sunday where the passenger was “clearly intoxicated” and had his sober friend drive.
A van was stopped today in @EPColchester passenger was clearly intoxicated and had got sober friend to drive. He was told not drive. 30mins later officers have stopped for a coffee and said suspect pulls into the services now driving ... One arrested for drug drive.

The force warned the man not to get behind the wheel but, half an hour later, spotted him driving into the same services after they stopped for a coffee.
The police stated they arrested a man on suspicion of drug driving in relation to the incident.
A SPEEDING driver was handed a double punishment by police officers after they made a discovery.
Essex Police’s roads team stopped a vehicle in Three Mile Hill, Chelmsford, as it was exceeding the 30mph limit for Creamfields South festival.
Officers discovered the car was also uninsured when they undertook checks.
The force stated the vehicle was seized and the driver reported.
