A LIFEBOAT was scrambled and rushed out to sea after a sailing boat ran aground.
The Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI crew was alerted by HM Coastguard shortly before 10.30am on Saturday to go to the aid of the boat close to Whittaker No. 2 buoy.
Upon arrival at the scene, the helm decided the best course of action was to wait for the rising tide so a crew member could be placed on board the boat.
A tow line was then established and the sailing boat dragged off the sands and into deeper water by 1.45pm.
