Drivers have been warned to expect delays after a van caught fire on a busy main road.

Police were called to the A14 sliproad, across the border in Suffolk, after reports of a Peugeot Partner van which was on fire. 

The fire is now out but the road remains closed. 

Diversions are in place and drivers have been encouraged to find alternative routes. 

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at shortly after 8am today, Thursday 2 June, to reports of a Peugeot Partner van alight on the A14 slip road at the Copdock.

"The vehicle fire has been extinguished and no injuries have been reported.

"One carriageway of the A14 is currently closed Westbound between the Seven Hills Interchange and the Copdock (junctions 58-55)

"The Copdock off slip from the A14 remains closed at this time.

"Emergency services remain on the scene.

"Diversions are in place but drivers are advised to avoid the area."
