FORMER Colchester United youngster Will Wright could be lining up against his old club, next season.
The defender has become Gillingham's first summer signing, after leaving National League side Dagenham and Redbridge.
Wright joined Colchester in 2017 from Hitchin Town and was a regular in their under-23 squad, under Wayne Brown.
In October 2017, he was drafted into the U's senior squad for the first time for their Football League Trophy match, ironically against Gillingham.
However, he left to join the Daggers on a permanent basis in the summer of 2019 following a successful season-long loan at the East London club, having not made a senior appearance for the U's.

Wright has played nearly 150 times for the Daggers over the last four years, scoring seven times.
Wright told the Gillingham website: "I'm really happy to get it done, once I spoke to the Gaffer it was pretty much a no brainer.
"I'm hard-working, composed, I like to think I'm a leader and I like to take care of the ball in possession.
"I have a good range of passing and I am looking forward to showcasing that next season."

Gillingham boss Neil Harris told the club's website: "I am delighted to welcome Will to the club.
"He is our first official signing of the summer; he is a player I have been aware of for a period of time following references from our recruitment department.
"He is a player that has potential to improve and he adds versatility to our backline; he is comfortable as a right-back or right side centre-half.
"He is adaptable to playing in a back three or in a back four and has the capability to grow as a centre-half over time."
