Passengers have been warned to expect delays after bricks were found next to a railway bridge.

Greater Anglia says trains between Colchester and Marks Tey are having to run at "reduced speed" due to a bridge "being damaged".

In a Tweet the service said this followed reports bricks had been found next to the railway under a bridge.

A Network Rail engineer has now arrived to assess the bridge and has ruled trains can return to normal speed.

A spokesman has earlier said: "Due to a bridge being damaged between #Colchester and Marks Tey trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines. Train services running through these stations may be delayed. Disruption is expected until further notice.
