A mum and her two daughters are saying ‘I do’ to a sweet new business supplying bags of treats for weddings, parties and other occasions.

KCR Candy, run by mum Karen Sage and her two daughters, Chloe Saunders and Ruby Sage, provide sweet cones for parties, hen dos, weddings and any other celebrations.

The fully licensed company, which has been given a five star hygience rating, will also deliver pick ‘n’ mix bags and boxes straight to your door.

Based in Abbey Fields, Colchester, the company started during lockdown but has quickly built up momentum.

Chloe said: “In lockdown, everyone went through a phase of ordering sweets.

"We had a lightbulb moment and thought to ourselves ‘Why aren’t we doing this? We could totally do this'.

A year on, the company still operates from Karen’s kitchen and is thriving.

The sweet cones have been so popular that KCR has had to stop taking orders for May, with a hefty workload of around 40 individual orders, each of around 30-40 cones.

The rest of the summer looks no quieter, with KCR having 80 cone orders to fulfil in June, before the month even begins, and 105 bags for a nursery graduation in August.

KCR’s unique point is that they colour match their cones in order to go with the theme of the event.

Being a community business, KCR also likes to give back to the city and is donating 20 bags of sweets to an autism charity event, raffling them off to raise money for sensory garden equipment.

The business even had to turn down an offer from the Colchester Half Marathon, for 2,500 sweets as they were so busy.

With their services available from Etsy, Instagram and Facebook, KCR is happily providing their sweet services to the people of Colchester.

Chloe said: “There are no plans to further expand at the minute.

"We are happily taking orders and sending our product out around Colchester, if we blew up and needed a warehouse for production, then that would be great, but at the minute we are happily working out of mum's kitchen as a family.”
