BRAINTREE Town have signed former Colchester United defender John White.
The experienced defender has joined the Iron after leaving Southend United and becomes Angelo Harrop's first signing since taking over as manager of the National League South club.
Writing on social media, White said: "I’m so excited for this fresh challenge!"
The Iron are delighted to welcome Experienced Defender John White as our first signing of the 2022-23 season! Having spent most of his career at @SUFCRootsHall and @ColU_Official , this will no doubt prove to be a valuable signing!#WelcomeJohn #COYI #PubTeamFromEssex pic.twitter.com/CBxQRGf3L4

White, who enjoyed a testimonial match at Roots Hall last Sunday, came through the youth ranks at Colchester after joining them at the age of 11 and made his senior debut for them in 2004.
The 35-year-old played more than 250 times for the U's and helped them win promotion in 2006, under Phil Parkinson.
White signed for Southend in 2013 and made nearly 300 appearances for them, during his nine-year spell with the club.
He helped them secure promotion to League One via a play-off final win over Wycombe Wanderers, in 2015.
In total, White has made nearly 550 career appearances during his professional career and will bring invaluable experience to the Braintree back line.
