A MUSICIAN defiantly living with a brain disorder has released his new album after finding alternative ways to pursue his love of writing and performing.
Geoff Lawrence, 61, from Rowhedge, has just dropped Similar Life, featuring tracks such as Little Boy’s Room, Wasps and Call Me Tuesday.
The 40-minute record, made up of a total of nine songs, was collaboratively put together over a two-year period at Tom Donovan Studio.
Throughout the process Geoff, a lifelong guitar player, mainly wrote on the bass and keyboard as a way of navigating Parkinson’s Disease.
He was diagnosed three years ago and now finds himself unable to gig - something he has loved doing since being a teenager - due to the impacts of the condition.
As a result, the impressive solo album represents hope and the overcoming of adversity as much it does a simply, sonic body of fine songs.
Geoff said: “I have always wanted to do an album like this one.
“So, this gave me an opportunity and I am really proud of it and I want people to listen to it.”
Similar Life is out now and can be streamed on Spotify.
