A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of GBH after reports of an assault in Colchester.

The victim, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital having sustained a head injury.

A 31-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of GBH.

The reported assault took place in East Hill, Colchester, at 7.30pm on Friday, May 20.

Police are appealing for anyone who has any footage of the incident to come forward.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are investigating an assault which was reported to us in East Hill, Colchester, at 7.30pm last night. 

“The victim, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital having sustained a head injury. 

“Thankfully his injuries are not life-threatening.

“We have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of GBH. He remains in custody. 

“Our early enquiries suggest this was an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public.
