A POPULAR performing arts venue has revealed its programme of events for the next two months featuring a variety of different acts for everyone’s taste.

Colchester Art Centre, located in Church Road, Colchester, has announced details and information about the next 28 shows to grace its stage.

The entertainment facility has played host to the likes of Coldplay and The Strokes in the past, bands which are now often seen selling out huge stadiums and headlining major music festivals.

Throughout the rest of May, supporters of small venues will be able to enjoy comedian Lou Saunders take to the stage before High Steward Sir Bob Russell leads a heritage tour from the complex on May 29.

Other shows taking place during the remainder of May include Flo &Joan: Sweet Release, which is now sold out, and Martin & Eliza Carthy.

Like its predecessor, June is also set to be a busy month for Colchester Arts Centre, with the Camra Colchester Summer Beer Festival kicking things off.

Then on June 8 Marisa Carnesky will bring Showwomen to the venue before a night of side-splitting jokes courtesy of The Laughter Zone Comedy Club on June 10.

The following day Frock Swap will encourage residents to donate unwanted clothes before jazz group Horn Factory return to the venue on June 12.

American musician William Basinki will take to the Arts Centre stage on June 14 and Victoria Melody’s Head Set performance will be held on June 15.

On June 16 another cult film will be screened in the form of Quatermass and The Pit before a comedians Jonny and the Baptists make guests laugh the next day.

Other shows in June include The Powerhouse Gospel Choir, An Evening of Opera, The Greatest Magician, Live/Wire, and Transmission: The Sound of Joy Division.
