A FUNDRAISING football match will see enthusiastic players go up against a team of sporting legends in aid of a children’s charity.

Harwich Angels FC will go head-to-head with former Tottenham Hotspur professionals on August 14 at Harwich and Parkeston Football Club, in Dovercourt.

It follows the team’s previous success against the Arsenal Foundation last year, which saw them secure a 6-2 victory and raise £14,000.

This year’s crunch match will be held in aid of The Brompton Fountain, a charity which provides children with cardiac, respiratory and intensive care.

Organiser Andrea King, from Harwich, said: “We decided to play our next match against the Tottenham team to see if we can beat them too.

“All money raised will be donated in memory of Myah Brunsden Smith who is the daughter of one of our players.

“Myah passed away at ten-days-old in October 2017 after being born with a heart condition.

“Not only did The Brompton Fountain care for Myah, they also looked after her family which helped them create memories for her older brother too.”

The game kicks off at 2pm and tickets, which cost £6 for adults and £3 for children, can be purchased from a range of shops in Harwich and Dovercourt.
