A DEPUTY headteacher at an infant school and nursery in Colchester has now been given the top job after dedicating nearly seven years to students.

Rachel Sunders, who first joined King’s Ford, located in Gloucester Avenue, back in the September of 2015, has been promoted to headteacher.

The appointment was overseen and orchestrated by the school’s governing body boss Ope Lawal, who is said to be delighted and thrilled by the move.

Rachel has vowed to do all she can to serve and lead the good-rated school to greater heights.

She said: “I am honoured to have taken on the role of headteacher at King's Ford Infant School and Nursery.

“I have loved every minute of my time here since joining the school in September 2015.

“I am immensely proud of all the school has achieved so far and I am determined to build upon these successes as we move forward.

“I am passionate about providing our pupils with the best standard of education at all stages of their development, in a calm, purposeful and challenging environment where everyone matters and every day counts.”
