A SHOPPING complex will host patriotic party in celebration of the Queen's pltinum jubilee.

Lion Walk Shopping Centre, in Colchester, is set to mark the 70th anniversary with a bunting-laden bash on June 3.

Taking place between 12pm and 4pm, the event will see decorated tables offering a range of food and drinks stretching through Red Lion Yard.

Actual Radio will also be on hand to oversee the live music and DJs, in addition to a close-up magician, balloon makers and acrobat artists.

With a view of incorporating the old and the new, guests are encouraged to don quirky outfits inspired by any of the decades from 1950 until the present day.

The occasion, co-funded by Colchester BID, also be used to support the Colchester To Ukraine campaign, which has now generated more than £20,000 for refugees in need.

Lion Walk centre manager Martin Leatherdale, who has entrusted Rebel Events with designing the street party, cannot wait for the big day.

He said: “Thankfully, looking at the news, the Queen is in great spirits and the rather unpredictable weather forecast looks on our side too.

“I’m proud Lion Walk is leading efforts with our partners and community. Let’s make this one a stonker.”
