AN independent shop specialising in retro clothing is set to hold a music event to mark the beginning of an exciting new venture.

Best Days Vintage, in Eld Lane, Colchester, will host its Vinyl Launch Gig on May 20 from 7pm featuring acoustic sets from Benjamin Brown and Pets Needs.

Steve Hurdle and Jez Dixon, who founded the small but popular business, have curated the show to commemorate the beginning of Best Days Vinyl.

Their new project will see them offer both new and second-hand records from established and local artists in-store.

It will kickstart during the free entry show, with audience members being given the opportunity to look through the LPs available before anyone else.

Then, the following day, the duo’s new venture will be officially opened to all customers, be it those heading to the shop for clothing, coffee, or just a chat.

Steve and Jez’s newest offering follows a drive to increase their capacity to offer mental health support to shoppers in Colchester.

They achieved this by enlisting the help of Ellie Cornell from Essex and Suffolk Counselling and arranging free weekly drop-in sessions.
