THERE will be a military flyover above the skies of Colchester as teams prepare for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The rehearsal flyover is expected on May 24, weather permitting, crossing Ipswich to Colchester between 11.30am and 1pm.

The Platinum Jubilee flyover itself will pass through the north and east of Colchester between 12.30and 1.15pm, then the south and west of Colchester, towards London, shortly afterwards.

It will also fly over other parts of Essex including Harwich and Manningtree. 

 

The large formation of planes will pass through Colchester in their celebratory flyover, before soaring over Buckingham Palace.

The fleet is believed to predominantly consist of Texan T Mk1s, a plane capable of reaching speeds of 585kmph.

The Government has already rearranged the bank holidays to allow for a four-day long celebration of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, with Thursday, June 2, and Friday, June 3, both official bank holidays.
