COLCHESTER United legend Karl Duguid has announced he is leaving his role as joint-manager of Coggeshall Town.

The U's legend, who made more than 450 appearances for Colchester during two spells at the club, arrived at the Pitching In Isthmian League division north last October after being appointed alongside former Spurs defender, Stuart Nethercott.

The Seed Growers finished 13th this season but U's double promotion winner Duguid has announced that he is now moving on to pastures new.

Writing on social media, Duguid said: "I’d like to thank all the players and staff for their hard work last season it was a pleasure to manage you all as I have turned down the opportunity to be manager next season.

"We have met some wonderful people behind the scenes that helped us no end.

"Thank you to Olly and graham for the support throughout the season and I wish everyone involved all the best for the future, it’s been emotional."

Duguid, who won promotion with Colchester in both 1998 and 2006, enjoyed a superb professional playing career, helping the U's achieve the highest-ever finish in their history back in 2007.

He has been coaching and holding one-to-one sessions for a number of years following his last professional game for the U's in May, 2014.

Duguid has also coached at the likes of Stanway Rovers and Heybridge Swifts, since his retirement from the game.
