A CAMPAIGNING councillor is calling for improvements to a road after a crash left four people hospitalised.
Police officers were called to Berechurch Hall Road in Colchester at 6.40pm on Saturday, May 7, to reports of a two vehicle collision.
Four people were taken to hospital, two of whom had serious injuries which are not thought to be life changing or life threatening.
Dave Harris, councillor for Berechurch and Shrub End, has called for more safety measures to be implemented in the area.
He said: “In 2019 I submitted an application for improvements to Berechurch Hall Road, Berechurch Road and Bounstead Road junction.
“This was put to the local highway panel and sits on the list of schemes for engineering review and assessment.
“I have seen several accidents at this location, it needs a total upgrade to a proper roundabout or some sort of traffic calmed junction, too many accidents have taken place there.
“I have asked for an upgrade of the proposal I put to Essex Highways and the local highways panel as this is urgent with people getting hurt.”
Essex Police has asked anyone with information on the Berechurch Hall Road crash to submit a report online at essex.police.uk.
