AN incredible replica of the crown jewels has gone on display in Colchester.
The selection of replicas has gone on display at Lion Walk shopping centre and the grand opening was performed by Colchester mayor Robert Davidson, town crier Bob Needham and shopping centre manager Martin Leatherdale.
The display, which has been co-funded by the BID Our Colchester, is housed in a unit next to Primark and opposite JD Sports and will run during May to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee.
Viewing is free for all but visitors are invited to make donations to support the refugees from the conflict in Ukraine.
The donation fund, run in association with Surya Foods and the World Food Aid charity, has so far reached £18,000 with the end goal of procuring an artic lorry full of vital humanitarian aid for dispatch.
Shopping centre manager Martin Leatherdale said: “It’s a privilege to launch this incredible replica display of the crown jewels in Lion Walk Shopping Centre, celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee.
"They have been a huge hit with customers, and I highly recommend a visit to see them in their stunning beauty."
Donations can be made to www.gofundme.com/colchester-to-ukraine , which will send funds from Colchester directly to the charity.
