AN ARTIST is holding an exhibition with creative pieces inspired by the area.
Recently retired art master David Smith, now a full-time artist in Boxted, is displaying pieces made during 2021 titled The Lockdown Chronicles.
This week the artist has filled the Benham gallery with the themes of Essex, North Yorkshire and analogical.
The oil, acrylic and ink pieces on canvas are all routed in art history and classical mythology.
This will be the artists first solo exhibition since his retirement.
The exhibition has been described as a bold, colourful and intellectual show with new art to view.
At the show, the artist will talk through the painting in three parts on the screen.

Mr Smith said: “I do find the best way to arrive at abstract composition is through the study of nature.
“By this stage of my career I don’t think I will ever fully shake off direct studies. Work often requires a leap of faith.”
The solo exhibition is on every day from 11am to 6pm until Sunday at the Cuckoo Farm Studios, Boxted Road, entry is free.
