A FOOTBALL fan “cried tears of joy” after receiving a personal letter from the manager of a football club he used to cheer on with his missing dad.

Harry Robinson, 20, from Colchester, frequently watched his beloved Arsenal with Christopher Scales, 41, who disappeared from the family home on February 1.

Despite widespread searches throughout the borough and the New Town area where he lived with wife Emma Robinson, 48, Christopher has still not been found.

After being made aware of the family’s heartbreak, Mikel Arteta, former Arsenal player and now manager of the historic club, penned a letter to supporter Harry.

He also enclosed a signed photograph of the Arsenal squad, which is currently made-up of stars such as Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard and Alexandre Lacazette.

In the letter Mr Arteta wrote: “I have recently been informed that you and your family are going through a very difficult time.

“I am very sorry to hear this and on behalf of everyone at Arsenal Football Club I send you and your family our very best wishes and we are thinking of you.

“Please stay strong we are all behind you.”

Upon receiving the special letter Harry, whose sister is Lily, 16, could not contain his emotions and initially was unaware who was behind the kind gesture.

Mum Emma said: “We were blown away and we found out it was my cousin in London who told his friend who works at Arsenal.

“Harry cried tears of joy and he was over the moon and it feels amazing given we are all Arsenal supporters in our home.

“Harry and Chris watched Arsenal together all the time so thank you to Arsenal Football Club for brightening up a young man’s life in such dark times.”

At the time of Christopher’s disappearance, he is believed to have been wearing a new black or dark blue Lacoste t-shirt and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms.

He is about 5ft 8ins tall, has a beard and brown hair, and was also wearing black Reebok trainers with a white sole and a dark blue denim Sherpa jacket.

Emma added: “Christopher if you see this please get in touch - we miss you so much I cannot put it into words. Please come home. Life is awful without you.”
