PLANS for a takeaway restaurant to be built in a shop have been withdrawn.

The applicant sought after converting the existing building in Barrack Street, Colchester by revamping its interior and giving the outside a facelift.

Once works were done, a planning report states the takeaway would have opened between 11am and 12pm, seven days a week.

It would have also created up to five jobs.

However, concerns were raised about road safety hazards being created due to insufficient space to park and wait.

The plans were withdrawn on Tuesday.
