A TEENAGE girl suffered injuries and was left requiring medical treatment after being attacked outside a college.

Essex Police were called to Colchester Sixth Form College, in North Hill, Colchester, at about 12.50pm yesterday.

Officers attended the scene after receiving reports of an assault involving a young woman who is understood to be a student at the college.

The incident is not believed to have actually taken place at or within the college grounds and the injuries the victim sustained are not considered life-threatening or life-changing.

A spokesman for Colchester Sixth Form said: “You may be aware that police and paramedics were onsite in the early afternoon today.

"Please be assured that this did not relate to any incident onsite.

"A member of the college community sustained an injury offsite and we of course were anxious to support everyone in this matter.

"Thank you to everyone for their cooperation.” 

Essex Police are now appealing for information which could aid their investigation.

A spokesman said: “Our inquiries are ongoing to identify where this happened.
