CARE home residents experienced some animal magic after spending time with four-legged friends.

Residents at a Halstead care home were kidding around with goats as part of an animal therapy session.

Colne View, on Dame Mary Walk, saw faces light up when six pygmy goats trotted into the care home where they received plenty of fuss and attention.

The therapy sessions are designed to help residents feel calm.

They also learn about the history, characteristics and other interesting facts of the animals, which came from Blackwater Alpacas and Pygmy Goats.

Home manager Monica Boldeata said: “We had a wonderful afternoon meeting our new four-legged friends.

“We are always looking for new and exciting activities for residents to enjoy.

“Animal therapy has proven to be incredibly beneficial for older people, as it can offer a calming effect, prompt conversations, and most importantly put a smile on everyone’s faces.

“Pygmy goats are incredibly friendly and make great companions, which makes them perfect for care home visits.

“It was so lovely to welcome them into the home, and we look forward to seeing them again very soon.”
