FIREFIGHTERS in Great Dunmow will continue to respond to incidents while their fire station is closed, thanks to a partnership with Essex Police.

Great Dunmow Fire Station, in Stortford Road, has shut for a scheduled four and a half weeks while essential resurfacing work takes place at the station.

However, firefighters will continue to respond to incidents from nearby Great Dunmow Police Station, in Chelmsford Road.

Great Dunmow is served by on-call firefighters who all live within five minutes of the first station, and in this case within five minutes of the police station.

Therefore, there will be no change in cover during the temporary closure.

Nick Singleton, Great Dunmow station manager, said: “I’d like to thank Essex Police for supporting us during these works to make sure we can continue to keep our communities safe.

“I’d also like to praise our on-call firefighters at Great Dunmow for continuing to serve their communities with such dedication.”

If you live or work within 5 minutes of an on-call fire station, you could be an on-call firefighter too.
