THE mum of a young woman who died after a battle with cancer has spoken of the “indescribable pain” as she prepares to mark her 28th birthday.

Aspiring photographer Dhneep Bains, known as Neepy, died aged 26 in 2020, after she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ewing sarcoma of the pelvis and a secondary growth on the lung.

Ewing sarcoma is a rare type of cancer which affects bones or the tissue around bones.

It mainly affects children and young people but is also seen in adults.

Neepy, of Colchester, wrote her experiences in a journal and she asked her family to share her story before her death.

She saw doctors more than ten times before being diagnosed with cancer.

Her mum, Ramesh Waltho-Brar, has spoken of the devastating loss ahead of an event to remember Neepy.

She said: “This past year losing my beautiful Neepy has been so painful, the indescribable pain that I don’t wish on any body.

“The pain of losing your young child, the only one daughter you have is just unimaginable pain that no parent should have to experience.

“I truly believe she has given me the strength to get up and go on in this life doing things that I never imagined or thought I was capable of ever doing.”

Ramesh is planning a 40s themed day to raise money for charity Young Lives vs Cancer.

The charity supported “loving and bubbly” Neepy and her family after she was diagnosed in 2018 and continue to support Ramesh now.

Last year £3,251 was raised for the charity in Neepy’s memory.

The event will take place at Rowhedge Social Club on Saturday June 25 from 12pm.

People will be invited to come in 40s themed fancy dress and take part in dancing on the day.

There will be live music from a range of jive and swing bands and singers.

Stalls will include vintage hairstyles and hair cuts as well as manicures and afternoon tea.

As well as raising money for charity, the day will be a chance for family and friends to celebrate Neepy’s life and 28th birthday.

Ramesh added: “Let’s do this for Neepy - June 16 would have been her 28th birthday, instead she will be forever 26.”
