MAGISTRATES courts across Essex have been busy dealing with people who chanced their luck when it came to not buying a train ticket.
And offenders' unsuccessful attempts have landed them a pretty hefty fine in recent weeks.
Here is a round-up of the latest people to have been caught without a train ticket:
Who? Danielle Mastbraker, 35, Morant Road, Colchester
When? November 11, 2021
The offence: Mastbraker was caught without a valid ticket between London Liverpool Street and Colchester.
The punishment: Mastbraker must pay £436.60 in compensation, a fine, surcharge and court costs.
Who? Ben Kelly, 24, of Mascot Square, Colchester
When? November 23, 2021
The offence: Kelly was caught without a valid ticket between Stratford and Colchester.
The punishment: Kelly must pay £440 in compensation, a fine, surcharge and court costs.
Who? Abbey Adeyemi, 19, of Hythe Quay, Colchester
When? November 16, 2021
The offence: Adeyemi was caught without a valid ticket between Stratford and Colchester.
The punishment: Adeyemi must pay £434 in compensation, a fine, surcharge and court costs.
Who? Comelio Gradila, 34, North Station Road, Colchester
When? October 9, 2021
The offence: Gradila was caught without a valid ticket between London Liverpool Street and Colchester.
The punishment: Gradila must pay £436.60 in compensation, a fine, surcharge and court costs.
Who? Morray Bailey, 33, Marmion Avenue, London
When? November 1, 2021
The offence: Bailey was caught without a valid ticket at Colchester Town Station.
The punishment: Bailey must pay £436.60 in compensation, a fine, surcharge and court costs.
