A PROMINENT business premises left empty after yet another retail giant decided to vacate the town centre has now officially hit the market.

Clothing chain Next became one of the latest big name brands to call time on their Colchester residency last month, when they closed their High Street store.

The popular fashion shop, which could also be accessed on Culver Street West thanks to its dual frontage, was located near the likes of Greggs and Office.

The unit which was occupied by the now departed Next has now become available to rent through property consultancy Prime Retail.

According to the advertisement, the ratable value of the three-storey building is estimated to be £150,000, while anyone who moves in will have to fork out roughly £76,800 in rates.

In a bid to talk-up the vacant premises’ potential for success, the listing also touches on the fact the unit is in the vicinity of legendary supermarket Marks and Spencer.

Later this year, however, the famous store will be shut down and relocated to a larger premises at Stane Retail Park, in Stanway, after nearly 100 years in the town.
