A LIFE-saving piece of equipment has been installed ready to use in times of crisis.
The defibrillator has been installed outside Tesco Express in Crouch Street, Colchester.
The equipment was unveiled by Rotary Club president Alex Johnson, alongside shift leader Jane Gibbon and store manager Naomi Foster.
This is the second defibrillator installed by the Rotary club working alongside partners, the other being outside the Mercury Theatre.
A spokesperson for the group said: “The Colchester Rotary club is pleased this is the second unit that we have been able to install.
“We are delighted to have worked with Tesco to provide this for the community.
“It is so important to have these units around the town. Should there ever be a problem, it will definitely save lives.”
According to the British Heart Foundation, there are around 3,500 out of hospital cardiac arrests in the East of England each year with a survival rate of one out of 13.
