COLCHESTER United are now viewed by some bookmakers as long as 45/1 for League Two relegation.

Paddy Power, Betfair and 888sport all view the U's chances of going down at that price, influenced by their last-gasp win over Tranmere Rovers, last weekend.

Colchester are now eight points above the relegation zone with seven games to go, after Oldham's 2-0 win over Leyton Orient in midweek cut their points cushion above the relegation zone.

They have picked up three wins in their last five games under interim head coach Wayne Brown.

However, Colchester's odds of staying up are priced slightly shorter at 20/1 with Betfred and Betway.

And Sky Bet see the U's as 18/1 to go down, behind Barrow (6/1), Stevenage (9/4) and Oldham Athletic (1/3).

Bottom club Scunthorpe United, who lie ten points adrift of safety with seven games remaining, are considered by most bookmakers now too far adrift to escape the drop.

Oldham, who are above the bottom two on goal difference but having played a game more than second-from-bottom Stevenage, are viewed as most likely to join Scunthorpe in the National League, next season.

The two clubs go head to head in a huge six-pointer at the Lamex Stadium, this weekend.

Stevenage then travel to play Colchester, next Saturday.

The U's head to play Harrogate Town tomorrow, looking to follow up their excellent 1-0 win over Tranmere Rovers.
