COLCHESTER Hospital will demolish a building in order to relocate its clinical services.
The hospital, in Turner Road, has been granted outline planning permission to provide an elective orthopaedic centre as part of its plans.
The works will see its Mary Barron building demolished and the cardiac catheterisation unit removed, as well as its administrative block.

The endoscopy section of the Elmstead Day Unit will also be removed and its clinical services relocated.
The proposals will then see a new service loop road built, including drop-off parking, a delivery area and new ambulance bays.
An external link corridor will also be built to connect the existing Elmstead Day Unit.
Colchester Council has the final say in how the works are undertaken.
