COLCHESTER United host Tranmere Rovers this afternoon, in another important game at both ends of the League Two table.

The U's lie eight points clear of the relegation zone, heading into their game with fifth-placed Rovers at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Colchester have suffered back-to-back defeats and are looking to secure a win to boost their survival hopes.

From team news to line-ups, key men and the referee, all you need to know can be found below ahead of today's game (kick-off 3pm).

U's team news

Colchester are set to welcome back Luke Hannant (pictured below) for their game against Tranmere.

The winger missed the U's 1-0 home defeat against Forest Green Rovers, due to illness.

Gazette:

Tom Dallison is pushing for a start after returning to the squad against Forest Green and Alan Judge could also be back.

Colchester will also check on the fitness of winger Owura Edwards and midfielder Emyr Huws, ahead of their game at the JobServe Community Stadium.

But Tyreik Wright, Tommy Smith and Armando Dobra are all away on international duty.

Left-back Ryan Clampin remains sidelined with a knee injury.

Colchester interim head coach Wayne Brown (pictured below):

“Tranmere are at a stage of the season where they’re at a bit of a crossroads.

“They’re desperate to get into the play-offs and that’s their aim.

“They’re in a run of form at the moment where probably like Forest Green before we played them, they probably haven’t picked up as many points as they’d wanted to of late.

“But they’re solid, they’re well organised – Micky Mellon’s teams are that and they’ll be tough to break down, hence why they haven’t conceded too many goals throughout the whole season.

“We know that we’ve got to be created and hurt them in areas where we can hurt them and be a threat, especially at home and take the game to them."

Opposition view

Tranmere boss Micky Mellon:

"We just have to look after ourselves and make sure we take care of our part of it and see where it takes us. "We'll keep going and keep fighting for the points all the time and try to get the results that keep us in that shake-up right until the very end.

"Colchester is always a tough place to go.

"They're a very committed team; long way away so we know that we must get everything right.

"It's a really important time in the season but we know how difficult a game it will be, if we're not at our best."
