Petrol prices are continuing to soar, and whatever the factors are behind the increase, the bottom line is it will hit consumers’ pockets the hardest.

1st – BP, Ipswich Road (CO4 0EU) – 168.9p per litre

Coming in at the most expensive petrol station in Colchester is the BP garage on Ipswich Road, where it will cost you over £100 to fill up a 60-litre tank at the current price of 168.9p per litre.

2nd – Texaco, Mersea Road (CO2 7EU) – 165.9p per litre

This Texaco garage scrapes in at £99.54 for a 60-litre tank of fuel, but is still up there as one of Colchester’s priciest.

3rd – Texaco Shrub End (CO3 4SA), Co-Op, Peartree Road (CO3 5JX), and Sainsbury’s, Stanway (CO3 8AA) – 164.9p per litre

All tied for third places, Texaco, Co-op, and Sainsbury’s all have slightly more affordable fuel in the current climate. A full tank at each of these petrol stations costs £98.94.

6th – Tesco, Greenstead Road (CO1 2TE) and Tesco Extra, Highwoods (CO4 9ED) – 163.9p per litre

At the more affordable end of the spectrum are the two Tesco supermarkets in Colchester. Both the Hythe and Highwoods superstores sell fuel for 163.9p per litre.

8th – Asda, Turner Road (CO4 5TU) – 162.7p per litre

Coming in at the least expensive in town is the petrol station at Asda. With petrol costing 162.7p per litre here, a full tank will cost £97.62 – nearly £5 cheaper than the BP garage on Ipswich Road.
