A CHRISTIAN youth group will be holding a family event in support of a woman with a terminal cancer diagnosis.

The Ramsey and Dovercourt Crusaders will be organising an Easter family bingo evening in Central Church Hall, in Dovercourt, next Wednesday to help Monique Buckingham.

Monique, 26, of Colchester, has endured at least 92 cycles of chemotherapy and has seen her bowel cancer spread all over her abdominal cavity – including her uterus, womb and ovaries.

But the defiant young woman is determined to keep on fighting and raise £500,000 to fund groundbreaking treatment which could prolong her life.

Nigel Spencer, founder of the group, said: "We at Crusaders have learnt of the plight of a young lady from Colchester who is desperately trying to gain treatment for her terminal cancer.

"This is vastly expensive, so kind hearted folk are helping to raise cash for her.

"We have agreed to donate £100 from our hoped for Easter Bingo Profits, so by taking part, you all could be helping Monique as she battles her illness, knowing she is not alone in doing so."

Refreshments will be free and visitors will be able to enjoy the usual large raffle and card game.

The event will take place from 6pm to 8pm.

Entry is £3.
