WAYNE Brown has lavished praise on Noah Chilvers following the midfielder's eye-catching display against Scunthorpe United.

The midfielder was outstanding in Colchester United's 3-1 triumph over the Iron at Glanford Park, scoring twice and producing a hugely impressive all-round display.

Chilvers has been in fine form for the U's over recent games, helping them embark on a four-match unbeaten run in League Two.

And the club's reigning Player of the Year has been lauded by interim boss Brown, who was delighted with the youngster's dynamic performance against Scunthorpe.

Brown said: "We all know what qualities Noah's got.

"He's shown it for a very long time now.

"I've done other interviews this season where I've said if he plays like that, then we'll do very well to keep him.

"It was another good performance.

"Not only have we asked him to go in and play as an eight but we also asked him to play as a ten in the second half and then we put him out on the left.

"Wherever he's played on the pitch, he's done a great job for the team and getting two goals just tops it off for him.

"It doesn't have to be a 36-year-old that starts getting the best out of the group.

"You need a bit of an inspiration from somebody and it can be from somebody like Noah.

"Not only was his work ethic immense in the three positions that he played in; I thought his decision making on the ball was very good, too.

"He was calm and composed, used the ball really well and if you can dribble and drive like that from the middle of your own half to deep into your opponents' half and at the end of it have the composure to finish like that, the boy's got a hell of a chance.

"Full credit to him but I thought there were some good performances from other individuals out there, too.

"I thought the subs came on and impacted the game, like we'd expect them to.

"The lads are all going to be needed, at certain times of the season."
