A FAST-food giant played its part in helping to support Colchester’s most vulnerable families.
Staff from McDonalds headed to Colchester Foodbank armed with bags of tasty supplies which will help struggling residents.
Craig Newnes, who owns four of Colchester’s McDonalds restaurants, said: “I’m so proud of my staff and managers for donating food to the Colchester Foodbank, we have partnered up with them to help support our community in these very hard times.
“Michael Beckett, Nichola Ranson and the volunteers are so welcoming and do a fantastic job. It’s great as a local business to be able to support the foodbank at this time.”

The foodbank’s chief officer Mike Beckett said: “It was a real pleasure to show the McDonalds team around the foodbank as well as a representative, Wayne Phillips, from McDonalds’ head office.
“They could all see first-hand the work the busiest foodbank in the east of England does and to receive their 400kg donation of food that we use to provide emergency food parcels for people in crisis was a pleasure.
“We are really grateful for the support of local people in our community. Without their support, we simply wouldn’t have a foodbank.”
