A MAN who was caught behind the wheel despite being banned has been handed a suspended prison sentence.
Liam Oreilly, 26, of Hutchinson Close, Tiptree, was caught in a Ford Ranger in Swifts Boulevard, Heybridge, on January 21.
He was subsequently charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
The court was told Oreilly had driven a short time after his disqualification and had passengers in the vehicle.
He admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on February 16.
Oreilly was handed a eight week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and he must carry out 60 hours unpaid work.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay a £128 victim services fun charge and £105 costs.
He was also banned from driving for 12 months.
There was no separate penalty for driving with no insurance.
