MONEY raised from the sales of a cookery book has gone towards feeding Colchester’s most vulnerable families.
A cheque worth £2,050 was presented to the Colchester Foodbank after the hefty sum was raised from the book produced by three churches in the borough.
The initiative to create and sell the cook book, entitled A Feast of Recipes for Sharing, in aid of the foodbank began in January last year, before it was published in the autumn.

Selling at £10 a copy, it has more than 90 recipes given by members and friends of three United Reformed churches – Lion Walk, in the town centre, Christ Church, off Maldon Road, and Chappel.
The book is a mixture of traditional and innovative recipes including soups, main courses, desserts, cakes and biscuits and a section providing mouthwatering ideas for children.
It will now support the busiest foodbank in Essex, which operates from ten centres in and around Colchester and provides meals for more than 15,000 people a year.
The fundraising team told the Gazette they would like to thank everyone for supporting the project, all who contributed their delicious recipes and all who bought the book.
