A BMW driver has been handed a £200 fine for having an illegal number plate.
The vehicle was stopped in London Road, Stanway, on July 1.
Taylor Parkhurst, 27, of Chinook, Highwoods, was subsequently charged with driving a vehicle when the registration mark fails to conform with regulations.
The BMW was found to have a tinted number plate with lettering which was misspaced.
The case was proved via the single justice procedure at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on February 18.
This means the defendant does not need to appear in court and the case is dealt with by a magistrate.
Parkhurst was fined £220 and ordered to pay a £34 victim services fund and £90 costs.
