A 75m stretch of the Footpath 61, Myland, where it runs alongside Colchester Hospital's staff car park, will be closed for six months. 

This is to allow repair works to be carried out while the construction of an Elective Orthopaedic Centre takes place.

An alternative route will be available.

A new zebra crossing is to be put in Shrub End Road, Colchester, close to its junction with Redmill.

Upcoming road closures across the district are as follows:

  • Closure of Brook Street, Wivenhoe from Hamilton Road to St Johns Road on March 30 while new connection works are undertaken by Openreach.
  • Circular Road North, Colchester will be closed from Flagstaff Road for 75m on April 4 while manhole cover replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
  • A five-day closure is set from March 28 of Frinton Road, Holland-on-Sea from Kings Parade to Little Clacton Road while carriageway investigation and repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
  • Closure of Golden Lane, Thorpe-le-Soken for a week from March 31 while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent.
  • Newbridge Road, Tiptree will be closed from Grove Road to Haynes Green Road for three days from March 28 while gully installation works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
  • Parsonage Hill, Boxted will be closed for 120m close to its junction with Church Street, for three days from March 29 while stop tap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
  • A five-day closure of The Shipwrights, Wivenhoe for 70m from Dry Dock is set from March 28, while navigation tower removal works are undertaken by Freedom.
  • Closure of Artillery Street, Colchester from Victor Road to New Park Street for three days from March 14, while hydrant installation works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
  • Cage Lane, Boxted will be closed for 100m near its junction with Dedham Road for three days from March 14 while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.
  • Colchester Road, Layer Breton will be closed from Lower Road to Layer Road for five days from March 4 while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
  • Colchester Road, St Osyth will be closed close to Clacton Road for 45m on March 20 while new connection works are undertaken by E S Pipelines Ltd.
  • Closure of Connaught Avenue, Frinton from Frinton Road to Pole Barn Lane for two nights, from midnight until 8.10am beginning on March 19, while inspection works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
  • Grange Road will be closed from Vine Road to Priory Road on March 10, while manhole cover replacement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
  • Closure of Ipswich Road, Holland-on-Sea from Brentwood Road to Frinton Road is set for 19 days from March 14, while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.
  • Jubilee Lane, Ardleigh will be closed close to its junction with Spring Valley Lane for 230m beginning on March 14 and lasting for five days while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

Closure of Mersea Avenue, West Mersea from St Peters Road to the High Street for three days from March 9 while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

Tower Road, Clacton, will be closed from Freeland Road to Beatrice Road for three days from March 21 while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
