A man who drove a BMW with a cracked windscreen has been ordered to pay £240 at court.
Campbell Taylor, 21, of Meadow Grass Close, Stanway, was stopped while driving the car in Goring Road on June 4 last year.
The vehicle had a large vertical crack from the top of the windscreen to the bottom.
He was subsequently charged with using a motor vehicle on a road when the glass was not maintained so as to afford the drivers unobscured vision.
The case was dealt with via the single justice procedure at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on February 2.
This means the defendant does not need to appear in court and the case is dealt with by a magistrate.
Taylor was fined £116 and ordered to pay a £34 victim services charge and £90 costs.
