A LAW firm’s award-winning kindness campaign has finally come to an end after a year of hard work.

Essex-based company Birkett Long celebrated its 200th anniversary last year and as a result ran its BLTwoHundred campaign.

The company, which has offices in Colchester, Chelmsford and Basildon, ran the campaign throughout the year, carrying out as many random acts of kindness as it could.

From 1,100 hand-delivered “calm kits” to staff at hospices, to employees buying colleagues a thank you coffee, many acts of kindness were completed.

In total, the firm gave 3,226 unexpected gifts reaching 3,645 people, giving a huge variety of presents, food, drink and donations.

The gifts included 1,100 care packs for St Helena, Farleigh, and St Luke’s hospices, 360 care packs for GPs, 625 bespoke bags of sweets and 150 personalised 200th birthday biscuits.

There were also 500 items given to food banks in Colchester, Chelmsford and Basildon, Christmas dinners donated to Crossroads Braintree and Chelmsford and garden equipment donated to head injury charity Headway Essex.

In addition, over the course of the year, the business took a trip down memory lane looking at the 200 years of the firm and how they got to where they are today.

The BLTwoHundred campaign also resulted in the marketing team winning the Countywide Essex Business Award for Excellence in Marketing

The Essex Business Awards have been established for 25 years and are a platform for celebrating the best business successes in the area.

Marketing manager at Birkett Long Jennie Skingsley said: “The BLTwoHundred campaign has been our favourite campaign ever.

“We have never had a campaign that has been so universal and all encompassing, reaching our clients, associates, business partners, employees and friends with kindness.

“Community was at the heart of this campaign and it really demonstrates that Birkett Long is here for good.

“To be recognised by the Countywide Business Awards for Excellence in Marketing was the icing on the cake and I would like to thank everyone who made it happen.”
